Something very real

February 26th, 2009

katewalshI just really appreciate when people are real and honest. Here’s a quote from Kate Walsh (Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice) in the March 2009 issue of Redbook:
\

\
I second-guess myself all the time. I make a decision and then wonder if I made the wrong choice. Sometimes I come off as confident, but really I am a quivering little wharf rat underneath who is radically insecure and deeply in need of love and understanding.

Why not?

Dustin Lance Black for Best Original Screenplay:

Oh my God. This was not an easy film to make. First I have to thank name, and name, and all the real life people who shared their stories with me. When I was 13 years old my beautiful mother and my father moved me from a conservative mormon home in San Antonio, Texas to California and I heard the story of Harvey Milk. And it gave me hope, it gave me the hope to live my life, it gave me the hope one day I could live my life as openly as who I am, and then maybe even I could fall in love and one day get married. I want to thank my mom, who has always loved me for who I am even when there was pressure not to. But most of all, if Harvey had not been taken from us 30 years ago, I think he’d want me to say to all the gay and lesbian kids out there tonight who have been told they are less than by their churches, by the government, or by their families, that you are beautiful, wonderful creatures of a value. And no matter what anyone tells you, God does love you and that very soon I promise you that you will have equal rights federally across this great nation of ours. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you God for giving us Harvey Milk.

Kate Winslet for Best Actress in a Leading Role:

Okay that fainting thing, Penelope.. I’d be lying if I haven’t made a version of this speech before, I think I was probably eight years old and staring into the bathroom mirror. And this would have been a shampoo bottle. But it’s not a shampoo bottle now. I feel very fortunate to have made it all the way from there to here and I’d like to thank some of the people along the way who had faith in me. My friends and my family, especially my mom and dad. They are in this room somewhere, dad whistle or something because then I’ll know where you are. **Dad whistles very loud** Yesssss. I love him. [She thanks a lot of people here]. There was no division between the cast and crew on this film and that’s what made it so special. To have been surrounded by a remarkable group of people who provided an unbroken chain of support. From name to name, name. From hair and makeup to cinematography. From the art department to the AD’s. And From New York to Berlin. And I’m so lucky to have a wonderful husband and two beautiful children who let me do what I love and who love me for just the way I am. Antony and Sydney, this is for you, this is for both of you. And I want to acknowledge my fellow nominees, these goddesses. I think we all can’t believe we’re in a category with Merrll Streep at all. I’m sorry Merrill, but you have to suck that one up. And just to the Academy, thank you so much, my God, thank you, woowwww.

-Tina Fey talking about working with Lindsay Lohan on Mean Girls (written by Tina Fey of course).

I totally am with Tina Fey on this one. Lindsay’s career has been nothing but a crap-storm as of late, but that doesn’t mean it always has to be this way. She just needs to make her career a priority again and then we’ll have it! Go Lindsay Lohan, even though you lied about helping needy kids in India/might get banned from entering the country again :\

moniquewithalltheseawards-Mo’Nique talking about the possibility of getting an Oscar (she’s favored to win because she’s already picked up 3 major awards for her role in Precious). Also, Mo’s going on a comedy tour and I definitely need to be a part of that. BTW, I have some hilarious Charm School moments for you later. Go Mo!

jessicasimpsonidontthinkpeopledeservetoseewhatsundermyclothing-Jessica Simpson talking about never willing to go completely nude for a movie role, even if it’s Oscar-worthy. At least she’s positive about the future it sounds. Also, Jessica Simpson is the hottest.

I live my life completely serving only my work and my fans. And that way, I have to think about not what is best for my vagina but what is best for my fans and for me artistically. In the book of GaGa, fame is in your heart, fame is there to comfort you, to bring you self-confidence and worth whenever you need it. I want my fans to love themselves. It’s almost like I want to hypnotize them so when they hear my music they love themselves instantly.

-Lady GaGa speaking to the New York Times.

jenniferanistonRemember during the Friends time period everyone was calling Jennifer Aniston “America’s Sweetheart”? Well, I feel like people don’t say that as much anymore, and they definitely should. She just had two #1′s in the box office and she’s just as awesome as ever (if not more). I’ve loved Jennifer Aniston since Friends and love her even more after. I always find myself going to see “the new Jennifer Aniston movie.” I really don’t like that people keep on bringing up Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. It’s over and done with. They have both moved on and they seem to be in good places in their own lives. Can they just move on and not be constantly reminded? But can I just say something….Team Jennifer Aniston all the way (but I love “Brangelina” too!) But if I had to choose.

Here’s Jennifer Aniston in a brand new interview with Elle UK. I love her answers. Love them.
\

\
About her body and exercise (she does two hours of yoga every day with a trainer at her home gym): I know that if I eat nothing but burgers and chips, I’m not going to be hired for the parts I normally would. That might be fine one day, but not right now.
\

\
On wanting to do action movies: I get offered funny, quirky, pretty roles,” says the star, who will attend the London premiere of Marley & Me tonight. “I’d love to do an action movie. James Bond! Glamour! Daniel Craig! Shit loads of fun!
\

\
On being happy: Look what’s out there. Look what people are really living through,” Aniston says. “There’s no comparison. I am happy.
\

\
On her divorce with Brad Pitt (people need to back off now): No matter what I say, things will always be taken out of context and misinterpreted, will always be turned around to make it seem as though I won’t let something go, or that I just keep talking about it over and over.
\

\
A good last word: I don’t owe anybody anything. I don’t owe anybody my side of the story. There are no sides! There is no bad guy and there is no good guy. There are no villains and there is no heroine in this story. It’s just not the case.

freidapinto11I started a new category called “Ask Adnan” (more information on the top of the page). A lot of people want to know more information about Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire), so here’s everything I’ve got so far:
\

\
Freida Pinto was born on October 18, 1984 (meaning she is currently 24 years old).
\

\
She was born in India.
\

\
She is 5′ 6” tall.
\

\
Prior to Slumdog Millionaire, she was a model with Elite Models in India.
\

\
In 2006-2007, she was an anchor for a show called “Full Circle” where she had assignments in Afghanistan, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Fiji among other countries.
\

\
Her dad is a banker, her mom a principal of a high school, and her sister, Sharon, is a producer for an Indian television channel.
\

\
Inspiring quote from Freida Pinto:
\
This industry is for fighters and those who do not give up! It is very important to believe in yourself. Even when a hundred people rejected me, I did not lose hope and finally one of the biggest directors of all times [Danny Boyle]believed in me! Also working in this film [Slumdog Millionaire] has taught me a lot, not just in terms of acting but also about myself, which is an integral part of being a good actor!

I totally see this girl in a Neutrogena commercial.

audreyhepburnbelieveI believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.
